The 2016-17 season was a coming out party for Devin Booker. He established himself as an all star level scoring talent, averaging 22.1 PPG, 3.2 RPG, & 3.4 APG on the year. That’s pretty damn solid – but of course he has things he needs to work on in order to take another step.
He needs to work on his handle, and shot selection for sure. The Suns will need Booker to create, while doing the majority of the scoring. At the end of the day – he is not a point guard. So, it will take some time for him to adjust to a ball-centric role. He took major strides, going from just a shooter – to a feature scorer within a year.
His FG% was only 42%, so that is a problem he needs to fix. I think he can bump that up to 45% next season – while averaging 24.8 PPG, 3.8 RPG, & 5.1 APG. Those numbers are very reachable for Booker, and would probably make him an all star. I think as his usage increases, his assist numbers will gradually increase.
