It was recently announced that Colts starting QB Andrew Luck will most like be inactive Week 1 against the Los Angeles Rams. Luck has still yet to practice since having shoulder surgery back in January. A surgery to repair his shoulder that he injured back in Week 3 of the 2015 season in a game against the Titans.
It is unknown when Luck will return or how many games he’ll miss or how long it will take for him to revert back to his old self. We do know that he is throwing at the moment, we don’t know how far he’s throwing we don’t even know what he’s throwing it could be a football, a tennis ball, maybe he’s throwing darts at a picture of Ryan Grigson we just don’t know. One thing we do know Andrew Luck is still listed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list and multiple coaches have said there’s no timetable for Lucks return to action. Another thing we do know is that if Luck isn’t taken of PUP soon he will automatically miss the first six weeks of the season which will essentially end the Colts season before it even begins.
What makes the whole situation worse is that Jim Irsay assured us we had nothing to worry about saying he’d be ready by training camp. Once that didn’t happen they said be back by Week 1 and then they said he’d be off PUP by week one but his playing status is in question. Now where here now there’s no timetable for his return which means baring a miracle Luck will start the season on the PUP list. Meaning Scott Tolzien and/or Stephen Morris will be taking the starting snaps and both have struggled to this point. Honestly at this point Colin Kaepernick may not be that of an bad option he’s better than nothing, not much better but still better. Plus everyone would finally shut up about Kaepernick not having a job which is a win for everybody.
Fourtunatley for the Colts they play the Rams, Browns, and 49ers in the first six games so if Luck were to miss them at least we may be able to pull off one or two wins but that’s still a maybe it’s hard to win in the NFL. There is good news in all of this though, Andrew Luck will be completely healthy for the first time since 2015 and we all know just how good Andrew Luck is when healthy remember he had a career year last and was with an injured throwing shoulder. A few weeks or even a season of suffering is worth it so we can finally have Luck back at full form then we can truly take the league by storm.
