College Football week 2 winners/losers

Okay week 2 is in the books now I’ll break down my winners and losers.

Winner Clemson

Clemson 13 Auburn 6

Clemsons defense looked fantastic vs Auburn, 11 sacks in one game is almost unheard of. Now auburn is not an elite offensive team but nowhere near a pushover. Looking at Clemsons remaining schedule Louisville and Virginia Tech on the road on on September 16th and 30th and a home game vs Florida St on November 11th are the 3 most difficult remaining Clemson will be ranked 2nd in the AP and should be at ACC champion and a playoff team.

Loser Ohio St

Oklahoma 31 Ohio St 16

If Indiana didn’t give up big plays late Ohio St would be completely out of playoff discussion. The Buckeyes looked sluggish in the 1st half off their opener, then to follow it up with this performance really puts Ohio St in a tough situation with Penn St (Oct 28) and at Michigan (Nov 25) still on their schedule Ohio st needs to win both games to make the playoffs tough ask for any team.

Winner Georgia

Georgia 20 Notre Dame 19

Georgia started freshman Jake Fromm at QB and went to Notre Dame and still got a win. Now in all honesty I only watched a little of the game my watching order went Clemson Ohio state USC then the ND game but I was surprised to see Georgia an underdog and I was right to think that. Georgia D play very well and Fromm 16-29 141 1 TD 1 INT managed the game well. Georgia is my pick to win the SEC east so Fromm will need to do more to beat the top of the SEC but a good start to his college career.

Loser Baylor

USTA 17 Baylor 10

Oh how far the once mighty has fallen. Baylor is a shell of themselves and Baylor fans it will be a long time until your anything close to the team than was complaining about missing the playoffs 2 years ago. Losing to Liberty and USTA in back to back weeks you guys are really losers. I debated to put USTA in the winner section but I’ll mention it here, congratulations to USTA on their 1st win vs a power 5 opponent in program history.

Winner Minnesota

Minnesota 48 Oregon St 14

Minnesota rolled Oregon state which isn’t impressive but any team is a winner if you learn who your starting QB is and Minnesota found out this week. Conor Rhoda looks like a lock to win the job he went 7-8 for 158 yards and 1 TD vs the beavers. Demry Croft did not attempt a pass he fumbled and had a 63 yard TD run. Minnesota was a 2 point underdog and won 48-14 also making them a winner.

Loser Rutgers

Eastern Michigan 16 Rutgers 13

After last week I praised Rutgers for looking very competitive vs a very good Washington Huskies team this week they were the Rutgers of last year in a 16-13 loss to Eastern Michigan. I’ll admit I was wrong Rutgers is still bad.

Notable performances

USC QB Sam Darnold 21-26 316 yards 4 TDs 2 ints

UCLA QB Josh Rosen 22-25 329 yards 5 TDs

Wyoming QB Josh Allen 22-32 328 yards 2 TDs

Who will the jets pick in next years draft?
