Perkins, Cain Retire from Baseball 

If you’ve watched baseball in the last 10+ years then a day in which Glen Perkins and Matt Cain make their final professional baseball appearances is a sad day for you.

Perkins is the local kid. Minnesota raised attended the University of Minnesota and played parts of 12 seasons with the twins. He appeared in 409 games 44 starts posting a 35-25 record with an ERA of 3.88 and 120 saves. In 624.1 innings he struck out 504 and walked 158. The 34 year old was a 3 time all star (2013-15), picking up the save in the 2014 ASG. Perkins missed 16 months and 4 days recovering from shoulder surgery and lacked his velocity apon return.

Cain also a 3 time all star (2009,2011-12) went 104-118 with a 3.69 era in 341 games 330 starts. He struck out 1690 and walked 711 in 2080.2 innings. Cain finished his career on a high note spinning 5 shutout innings allowing 2 hits walking 1 and striking out 4, he threw 73 pitches.
